Valentine’s Day is coming up and all advanced planners are making reservations at their favorite dinner date spots. While this is the perfect night out for some, others are looking for a new adventures to replace the cliche fancy dinner. If you’re looking to mix things up this V-Day, check out our (4) suggestions below for enjoying your favorite foods and drinks away from the table.
(1) Take a food tour! Food tours are gaining in popularity as people search for more exciting ways to experience food, culture, and cities. Atlanta Food Walks offers just that for those interested in a journey through the food-side of the southern food experience and civil rights fight here in the south, bringing a storytelling experience at iconic restaurants in the area. The guided tour features “14 delicious tastings from 7 southern food joints in Atlanta’s historic downtown neighborhoods” and “will introduce you to chefs and food vendors in restaurants and markets where locals eat and shop.” Tours are offered Friday through Sunday for just $65 per person and gives you 3.5 hours of food, drink, and storytelling. You can buy your tickets and get more information about the food tour here: www.atlantafoodwalks.com
(2) Go bourbon-tasting! Northeast Atlanta restaurant HOBNOB is offering an alternative to the usual wine tasting with a bourbon and chocolate-paired experience. This is ideal for those wanting a classy and affordable experience of decadence by bringing together two holiday classics: drinks and sweets. Since this even occurs a few day before Valentine’s Day, it still leaves your weekend open for a romantic getaway. Groupon is offering this Valentine’s Day-themed bourbon-tasting event with chocolate pairing on February 8th for $39 per person (42% of the original cost of $67) and it includes “10-15 bourbon tastings along with the opportunity to learn from bourbon experts about different types of bourbon, how they are made, and how to pair them with food. The executive chef will be in attendance to discuss the food, and swag giveaway will also be available.”
(3) Enjoy an all-inclusive brewery tour! If the quality of beer offered at Red Brick Brewing Co. wasn’t enough, now they’re offering a generous package for two with tour times available from Wednesday through Sunday. Groupon is running this special which gives two people a $58 experience for half-off! This means you only have to dish out $29 to receive: a 64 oz. growler, six 6 oz. tastings per person, two souvenir pint glasses, two t-shirts, and two 20-minute tours. But seriously. The beer is really good here (not to mention the staff are pretty generous pourers ;p).
(4) Solve a mystery over a 4-course meal! Atlanta, GA – Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Show, an interactive dinner show, envelops attendees in a night of food and (fictional) crime. Throughout the night, guests interact and ‘interrogate’ one another in hopes of finding the criminal in the bunch. The winner takes home a prize package, but everyone leaves with a full belly, commemorative mug, and a new pension for justice! Groupon is offering two show tickets ($160 value) for the price of $103. Reservations must be made a week in advance and can be used now through April 30th. This is the perfect ‘rain-check’ V-Day gift for those who can’t celebrate Valentine’s day on the 14th.
